The Ending

Hello to all my lovely readers, I'm sad to say this is the end of this project. My music video was finished a few days ago and this is my last time posting about it. I loved the process so much and worked with an amazing group. Throughout this project I learned that planning is the third most important step (after filming and editing). One thing that was a major flaw in my group was the lack of planning we had done. Well, we had done lots of planning but it didn't work out the way we wanted to. Watching the music video come together was very fun. My favorite part of the process was probably filming, it was very fun to film at all these different locations and with all these different costumes. The music video wasn't completely easy, there were some challenges. Finding a time to film was very difficult, there were four hectic schedules to work around. Also, we had to discuss the project at lunch since all four of us weren't in the sam class. All in all, the music video was very fun, challenging, and a great experience.

The Ideas Behind the Editing

Welcome back to my lovely readers, I wanted to tell you about the editing process. Sofia did the editing, but I did come up with some of the ideas. For example, in the first shot, I was the one to suggest the lighting change. There was a change in lighting while filming but it was enhanced during editing. While filming, I made sure to check with Sofia that she was using a variety of different camera angles and movements. Being the near professional that she is, Sofia was of course doing this. Before Sofia had done the editing, there were already decisions that were made beforehand. There were also certain things we did while filming to avoid inconsistencies. In the sleepover section, I fast forwarded the movie for each shot. However, it was actually 4 in the afternoon. This way, it looked as if time had passed between each shot. Another thing, making sure it looked dark out in this section. I closed the curtains and all of us tried to make it seem as if it was 10 or 11 at night. It is very important to ensure that what we are filming makes sense. All the time in TV shows or movies, there are mistakes that are easily avoidable. I used some foresight to avoid these mistakes so the music video will look better. Also, Kaitlyn and I were wearing heels for filming a large part of the music video. We both wanted to take them off and change to more comfortable shoes, but doing this would cause an inconsistency. All in all, the finalized product looks amazing. Sofia did the editing, but all four of us took some part in it.

The Sleepover

Welcome back to my lovely readers, yesterday was the second day of filming. The whole group came over to my house to film. The first thing I did was change into pajama shorts and a tank top to film. The first shots filmed were of Camille, Kaitlyn, and I at a sleepover. To prepare for the shots, I got all of us a blanket and food. I also turned the TV on to Twilight to play in the background. The first shot was the three of us on the couch eating food and watching the movie. The second shot was of us having a pillow fight. The final shot for the sleepover section was the three of us sleeping with the movie still playing in the background. Throughout filming these shots, my dog decided she wanted to become a famous movie star. I'm not sure if you will see her in the video, but she was there while filming. After filming the sleepover shots, I changed into a bathing suit for the pool scene. In the music video, the pool shots come before the sleepover shots. However, we switched the order so we weren't all wet for the sleepover shots. Unfortunately, my pool doesn't have a heater so it was freezing cold. The first shot we filmed at the pool was the three of us jumping in at the same time. After, the three of us were in the pool, getting filmed by Sofia for possible shots. We filmed much more then will be used, but it gives Sofia options while editing. The final shot filmed was the three of us getting towels and drying off. This was the final thing filmed for the group and now it is time for the editing.

Matching Shots to Lyrics

Hello to my lovely readers, today I wrote out what happens for each lyric in the music video. The first thing I did was figure out where in the song the music video will stop. I added all of these lyrics into a chart. From there I started to coordinate the scenes with lyrics. For the first two lyrics "Sun's up...it's a little after twelve" it is two separate shots of Kaitlyn in bed with a lighting change and her getting out of bed. The following two lyrics are the before and after of Kaitlyn eating breakfast just as the lyrics say: "Make breakfast for myself...leave the work for someone else".  The two lyrics coming after are "People say...they say it's just a phase" are of Kaitlyn doing a mirror transition showing her before and after of being ready. The next lyric: "They tell me to act my age" is of her walking down the stairs. Kaitlyn greets Camille and I at the door during the lyric "Well I am". The next four lyrics are the three of us walking to the car, getting in the car, and pretending to drive. The next two lyrics are the three of us walking into the mall and walking into the store on "On this perfect day...tomorrow's gonna come too soon". For the three lyrics coming after each girl walks out of their dressing room in a dress. The lyrics: "Sun's down...a little after ten" it is the three girls in the pool having fun. The next lyric shows the girls drying off from the pool. The final three lyrics are the three girls watching a movie, having a pillow fight, and falling asleep. Doing this process will make the second part of filming easier. It's sort of a second part to the storyboard. Throughout the first day of filming, it was a little difficult to figure out the shots to film since the storyboard isn't based on the lyrics. I did all of this on a chart so it will be easy to look at. Tomorrow, filming will be much easier for the group.

The Mall

Welcome back my lovely readers, I'm writing about the production of my music video. The first day of filming was a few days ago. Everyone in the group met at my house. When filming, the shots were not filmed chronologically. The first thing that I did was changing and getting ready for the shots that were filmed first. My costume was a white skirt with a black top and black heels. My first few shots that I had filmed were of Kaitlyn, Camille, and I greeting each other and then heading off to the mall. There were several shots of us walking out of the house to the car and us in the car. The car was not moving for safety and legal reasons, but the shots look as if the car is. After filming those shots, there was a location change to the mall. The first shot filmed was of the same people walking into the mall and the second was of us walking into the store Altar'd State. From there, I found a dress to try on and wear in my next shot. The next and final shot of the day for me was me walking out of my dressing room in my dress. After the shots of the mall were finished, the filming location went back to my house. I was no longer filming the shots but instead helping out in the others. The final few shots filmed were of Kaitlyn. I gave some suggestions on how to film them. For one shot, I played the song aloud and turned the lights on in the room to match the lyrics. For another shot, there needed to be breakfast made all nice. I made a pancake, poured syrup on it, made a glass of water, and got the table looking all nice for the shot. The following shot was after the food was eaten. I poured out some water, cut the pancake to have a small piece left, scattered the syrup, and made it look as if someone actually ate breakfast. The whole process of filming was very fun and I enjoyed very much. There are some things that could have been done differently. However, I still think I and the rest of my group did a good job on filming.
